Louise and Pastor Sammy on the Books of John, Sept. 26, 2024

The books of John are addressed largely to Christians. Louise pointed to some examples in this lesson.

See for example 1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

See also 1 John 1:6-10

If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all[b] sin.

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.

 and one John 1:23

23 John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, “I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way for the Lord.’”[a]

Darkness and light are examined as elements of righteousness.

Need to stay well abiding with God. Also continue studying and address the relationship you have with God.

All of the above are explained by Louise.

When walking in the light it is important to stay up on repentance. Don’t sit on it overnight or a longer period.

There is a difference between habitual sin and sinning occasionally. If you sin or stumble, you have an advocate who will stand by you, Jesus.

A lifestyle of sin breaks fellowship. You need to practice repentance.
